Dr. Simon Gooch
Simon was raised in Williams Lake, B.C. where he enjoyed the outdoors, especially dirt biking and skiing.
After graduation, he moved to Victoria to further his education. While in Victoria, he worked at a number of jobs, including at Future Shop, in home renovations, and in food delivery.
Determined to find a good career, he naturally considered following his father into family medicine. However, an opportunity to shadow a family friend and dentist in Victoria sparked something in him. He realized that his love of tinkering, gadgets, and projects that require fine hand dexterity and spatial awareness would make a career in dentistry the perfect fit. He completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Victoria in 2005 and applied to attend UBC Dental School. He graduated at the top of his class in 2011.
Simon met Dr. Francis LaCouvee, and, realizing how well they worked together at a volunteer event, decided to join the Arbutus Dental Clinic in 2017. Simon prides himself on an ethical, caring approach to each and every one of his patients. He continues to be passionate about the big and small transformations he can make in dentistry.
When Simon wants to play, you can find him out on the dirt bike or mountain bike trails in the summer and on the ski slopes in the winter with his wife, Teneane and daughter, Olivia. He loves to keep busy with several building projects around the house and spending time with family and friends.
